About the role#
The Brennan Center for Justice is seeking undergraduate students for an internship within the Justice Program. This role provides research and administrative support to staff in our New York office. You will gain exposure to our work on criminal justice reform, including sentencing, bail, and prison policy. This is a paid, in-person position for the Spring 2027 semester.
What you'll do#
Interns assist with daily office operations and substantive project support. Your duties include:
- Handling general administrative tasks like filing, photocopying, shipping, and answering phones.
- Coordinating meetings and drafting routine correspondence.
- Managing the reception desk.
- Tracking ongoing developments in the criminal justice field.
- Building lists of key stakeholders and conducting background research.
- Assisting with the research, editing, and rollout of reports.
- Attending and observing internal meetings and events.
What you'll need#
We look for current undergraduate students who are organized, punctual, and energetic. You should be an independent worker with a strong interest in criminal justice issues. Key requirements include:
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience with Salesforce, data analysis, or statistical analysis is a plus, though not required.
