The Brennan Center for Justice is seeking an undergraduate intern for the Fall 2026 semester to support the Justice Program. This role involves contributing to research and administrative tasks aimed at creating a safer and more humane criminal justice system. Interns will have the opportunity to participate in substantive meetings and events related to the program's work on prison reform, sentencing, and bail issues.
What you'll do#
- Assist with administrative and research tasks for the Justice Program.
- Conduct research on state and federal legislation and policies that impact the justice system and improve prison conditions.
- Support the planning and execution of programmatic events.
- Participate in meetings and conversations regarding program initiatives.
- Engage with rapid response issues relevant to the Justice Program.
What you'll need#
- Current undergraduate student status.
- Excellent research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Salesforce or data/statistical analysis is considered a plus.
- Academic background in fields such as Political Science, Criminal Justice, Public Health, Philosophy, Sociology, or Economics.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, NY (On-site).
- Term: September – December 2026.
- Commitment: Approximately 10 – 20 hours per week.
- Compensation: $18.40 per hour (subject to school internship policy requirements).
