About the role#
This internship is part of a two-year associate degree program focused on diesel technology. You will split your time between classroom instruction and hands-on work at our shop. The program is designed to help you master fundamental technical concepts and build the skills needed to work as a service technician.
What you'll do#
- Complete two years of instructor-led classroom and lab training while maintaining at least a 2.7 GPA.
- Work toward certifications in Electrical, Hydraulics, and Service Advisor training.
- Meet credit requirements for the John Deere University curriculum.
- Assist senior technicians with basic service tasks and equipment repairs.
- Learn to remove, disassemble, and recondition components.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections and set up new equipment.
- Document your work by completing necessary reports and forms.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace while tracking your time and materials.
- Dedicate at least 4 hours per week to self-directed training.
- Use resources like Parts Advisor, Service Advisor, and the Ag Sales manual.
- Aim for a minimum 50% labor performance.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Interest in learning repair methods for agricultural machinery and outdoor power equipment.
- Fundamental knowledge of engines, hydraulics, powertrains, air-conditioning, and electrical systems.
- Ability to lift at least 25 lbs repeatedly.
- Strong work ethic and clear communication skills.
- A forklift license is a plus.
