About the role#
Gain hands-on experience in public accounting through this internship. You will work full time alongside the team, gaining experience primarily in tax and secondarily in audit. You will contribute to client engagements and develop technical skills to build a foundation for a career in public accounting.
What you'll do#
- Prepare fixed asset depreciation schedules across multiple book and tax bases.
- Input and adjust client trial balances within tax software.
- Prepare individual and business tax returns for professional review.
- Practice fundamental preparation skills for federal and state tax returns.
- Manage engagement time effectively, including awareness of budgets and accurate tracking of work in progress.
- Develop a foundational understanding of trial balances, general ledgers, and tax preparation software.
What you'll need#
- Current status as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior undergraduate or enrollment in a Master's program.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, with a willingness to work up to 50 hours per week from early March through April 15th.
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Completion of tax curriculum prior to the internship is preferred.
