About the role#
Gain hands-on experience in public accounting through this internship, which focuses primarily on tax work with secondary exposure to audit engagements. You will contribute to real client projects, develop technical skills, and build a professional foundation for a career in the field.
What you'll do#
- Prepare fixed asset depreciation schedules across multiple book and tax bases.
- Input and adjust client trial balances within tax software.
- Prepare individual and business tax returns for professional review.
- Practice fundamental preparation skills for federal and state tax returns.
- Manage engagement time effectively, including awareness of budgets and accurate tracking of work in progress.
- Develop a foundational understanding of trial balances, general ledgers, and tax preparation software.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior undergraduate or in a Master's program with a major in Accounting.
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, with a willingness to work up to 50 hours per week from early March through April 15th.
- Completion of a tax curriculum prior to the internship is preferred.
