About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in public accounting, focusing primarily on tax work with secondary exposure to audit engagements. You will contribute to real client work, develop technical skills, and build a professional foundation for a career in the industry.
What you'll do#
- Develop a foundational understanding of trial balances and general ledgers.
- Prepare fixed asset depreciation schedules across multiple book and tax bases.
- Input and adjust client trial balances within tax software.
- Prepare individual and business tax returns for professional review.
- Manage engagement time effectively, including awareness of budgets and tracking work in progress.
- Practice fundamental preparation skills for federal and state tax returns.
- Multitask and manage deadlines in a professional accounting environment.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior undergraduate, or as a student in a Master's program.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week, with the willingness to work up to 50 hours per week from early March through April 15th.
- Basic knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Completion of a tax curriculum prior to the internship is preferred.
