About the role#
Bracco is seeking a Firmware Engineering Co-op to support the development and testing of next-generation medical devices. You will work under the direction of experienced engineers on projects involving angiography, physiology, and imaging. This role involves a 2-3 semester rotation, with a commitment of 40 hours per week. The position is primarily remote, with the office located in Pleasanton, California.
What you'll do#
- Develop firmware for microcontroller devices and embedded software.
- Implement cybersecurity features and work with real-time operating systems.
- Apply firmware design skills to realize algorithms or applications based on MCU, DSP, or ARM systems.
- Manage project activities from definition and requirements gathering to code review and final release.
- Create and implement firmware test plans and protocols, and generate associated test reports.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, RA, test engineers, and hardware engineers.
- Make and justify technical decisions regarding product design.
- Document solutions for manufacturing and provide technical support during the product launch phase.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a B.S. or M.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering, or Software Engineering.
- Familiarity with firmware architecture, embedded system hardware, and development environments.
- Strong coding skills in C/C++ for embedded systems.
- Experience with emulators and JTAG debugging.
- Proficiency in Python for integration test script development.
- Understanding of Software Development Life Cycles and Software Test Life Cycles.
- Ability to perform code reviews, static code analysis, and dynamic code analysis.
- Proficiency with analytical tools like debuggers, logic analyzers, and protocol analyzers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of motor controls, digital signal processing, or real-time operating systems is considered a plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Pleasanton, California (Hybrid/Remote).
- Employment Type: Full-time.
- Compensation: $38.00 - $40.00 per hour for undergraduate students.
- Term: Rolling start dates, with a preference for January or May starts.
