About the role#
As a Process Development Engineering Intern, you will help connect Research & Development to Manufacturing. You will focus on developing robust processes, technologies, and systems to support the production of medical devices. This role involves working across various business areas, including Electrophysiology, Cardiac Rhythm Management, Diagnostics, Endoscopy, and Urology.
What you'll do#
- Develop new manufacturing processes and test systems that scale to high-volume production while reducing variation and improving product quality.
- Work hands-on with manufacturing and development equipment to design, build, test, and troubleshoot fixtures, tooling, and processes.
- Apply engineering problem-solving and statistical methods to evaluate process performance.
- Support process development activities, such as laser processing, bonding, mechanical testing, molding, and process validation.
- Partner with technology leaders and cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions.
- Maintain the integrity of Process Plans and develop Manufacturing Instructions to support material and process implementation.
- Ensure all work conforms to global process development procedures and quality requirements.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Material Science/Engineering.
- Must graduate between Fall 2027 and Spring 2029.
- Ability to commit to a full 12-week internship during Summer 2027.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with mechanical, manufacturing, equipment, or fixture design.
- Experience with SolidWorks or other CAD tools.
- Ability to perform basic data analysis using tools like Minitab, JMP, or Excel.
- Strong problem-solving, critical-thinking, and organizational skills.
- Clear, direct communication style and a focus on teamwork.
- Exposure to areas such as Six Sigma, process validation, materials science, 3D printing, or microelectronics is a plus.
- Interest in emerging technologies and AI-enabled engineering tools.

- Location: Arden Hills, Minnesota.
- Modality: Hybrid (requires being in the office at least four days per week).
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Employment: Full-time internship.
- Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship and have reliable transportation to the Arden Hills location.
