Interventional Oncology R&D Engineering Intern

About the role#

The Interventional Oncology & Embolization (IO&E) group at Boston Scientific is seeking a design-focused intern to join the TheraSphere Y90 R&D team. This role provides an opportunity to contribute to both current commercial product initiatives and new product development. You will work on technical challenges and influence new technologies within the medical device field.

What you'll do#

• Perform engineering work using problem-solving abilities.
• Design, fabricate, and prototype new device designs based on clinical feedback.
• Assist new product development teams with device development and testing.
• Collaborate with a cross-functional team.
• Research and analyze clinical and market data to identify new opportunities.
• Grow your technical skillset through mentorship, training, and hands-on experience.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Biomedical Engineering.
• Expected graduation date between Fall 2026 and Spring 2028.
• Must have at least one semester of school remaining following the internship.
• Ability to commit to one of the following full-time program periods: May 18 – August 7 or May 26 – August 14.
• Reliable transportation to the Maple Grove, Minnesota office.
• Note: This position does not offer visa sponsorship.

• Modality: On-site (required to be in the office at least four to five days per week).
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Compensation: This is a paid internship.
