Design Assurance Engineering Intern

About the role#

As a Design Assurance Engineering Intern, you will partner with Design Assurance and R&D teams to support the development and verification of medical devices. This role focuses on ensuring product conformance, managing design control deliverables, and performing risk management activities within the Peripheral Interventions division. You will gain exposure to the operations of a medical device company while contributing to the delivery of high-quality products.

What you'll do#

• Perform meaningful engineering work by applying your problem-solving abilities.
• Develop risk-based assessments related to design changes.
• Review product specifications, design documentation, and verification and validation documentation.
• Research and develop use case and task analysis documentation.
• Grow your professional skillset through training, hands-on experience, and mentorship.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers and technicians.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a degree in Biomedical, Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical engineering.
• Expected graduation date between Fall 2026 and Spring 2028.
• At least one semester of school remaining following the internship.
• Experience owning and executing an engineering design project with direct output.
• Ability to communicate effectively within cross-functional teams.

Location & details#

• Location: Maple Grove, Minnesota.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Program duration: Must commit to either May 18th – August 7th or May 26th – August 14th.
• Modality: This is an on-site position requiring attendance at the local office at least four to five days per week.
• Requirements: Must have reliable transportation to the Maple Grove facility. This position does not offer visa sponsorship. This is a safety-sensitive role subject to prohibited substance testing.
