About the role#
As an Applied AI Software Development Intern, you will work on the mathematical foundations of artificial intelligence within the defense mission space. You will explore emerging approaches in optimization, modeling, probability, and algorithmic development to support national security outcomes. This role involves applying academic theory to real world data sets and operationally relevant problems.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with data scientists, AI engineers, and mission experts to address client questions.
- Apply mathematical methods to data driven challenges.
- Evaluate the performance of advanced AI and machine learning techniques.
- Support algorithm design, model validation, analytic experimentation, and explainability analysis.
What you'll need#
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, C++, Go, or JavaScript.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies, version control, and collaborative workflows.
- Scheduled to obtain a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a STEM field by Spring or Summer 2028.
- Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Preferred experience includes AI or ML model development, cloud platforms, containerization, DevSecOps tooling, SQL or NoSQL databases, and Agile development.
