About the role#
This internship focuses on the architecture of new aircraft systems. You will work within the Research and Technology team to support the development of aircraft-level requirements and system models. The position is a full-time, paid opportunity for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Support the authoring and refinement of Design Requirements and Objectives (DR&O) and Aircraft Requirements Document (ARD) requirements.
- Review requirements with senior engineers to ensure they are clear, complete, consistent, and verifiable.
- Document engineering assumptions, decisions, and open issues.
- Gain hands-on experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) by helping develop aircraft architecture models.
- Connect requirements, interfaces, and design decisions to maintain a traceable engineering process.
- Prepare technical material for architecture reviews and working sessions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and contribute ideas to improve engineering methods and templates.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in systems, aerospace, mechanical, electrical, software, or a related engineering program.
- Curiosity about how an aircraft functions as a complete system.
- Ability to organize information and turn complex ideas into clear diagrams, models, or presentations.
- Strong attention to detail and a collaborative approach to problem-solving.
- Initiative to follow up on project actions and ask thoughtful questions.
- Comfort learning new concepts and tools with guidance from the team.
- Awareness of MBSE, SysML, or requirements-management tools is an asset but not required.
- Familiarity with verification, validation, or requirements traceability is helpful.
