About the role#
This is a full-time, paid Urban Designer Intern position for Summer 2026. You will work on-site in Charlotte, North Carolina, supporting project managers on a variety of city and town planning initiatives.
What you'll do#
- Support project managers with services related to urban design, transportation planning, and comprehensive plan development.
- Assist on planning projects with an emphasis on small area plans, corridor planning, downtown master planning, transportation, parks, and trails.
- Interact with client staff, stakeholders, contractors, and sub-contractors.
- Provide a minimum of 3 work samples in PDF format with your resume.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an urban planning, urban design, landscape architecture, or related field at an accredited post-secondary institution.
- Sophomore status or above with completed coursework in planning principles and knowledge of land use.
- Proficiency in ArcGIS, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketchup, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to read, speak, and write English clearly.
- A valid driver’s license and your own transportation for business-related travel.
