Survey Field Intern

About the role#

This is a paid, full-time Summer 2026 internship based in Charlotte, North Carolina. As a Survey Field Intern, you will work alongside an experienced crew chief to apply classroom knowledge to real-world infrastructure projects. This role requires on-site work and involves regular interaction with staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors.

What you'll do#

• Assist with boundary, topographic, and ALTA surveys.
• Perform construction staking.
• Collect data using GPS equipment.
• Gain hands-on experience with Trimble and Robotic Total Station technology.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Civil Engineering Technician, Land Surveying, Survey Technician, or related degree program at an accredited institution.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (3.2 preferred).
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under the firm’s standard rates, as well as personal transportation for business-related travel.
• Physical ability to work in extended outdoor conditions and navigate rugged terrain.
• Preferred: Completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD drafting.
