Data Science Intern

About the role#

Bolton & Menk, Inc. is seeking a Data Science Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time, paid position is based on-site in Mankato, Minnesota. You will work alongside a team of AI professionals to support data engineering and development projects that contribute to community infrastructure solutions.

What you'll do#

• Support the AI team on projects involving data engineering and data development.
• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to define requirements and deliver technical solutions.
• Assist in designing and maintaining data pipelines, performing ETL processes, and ensuring data quality.
• Support the development of predictive models, conduct exploratory data analysis, and apply statistical techniques to business problems.
• Contribute to the building and testing of generative AI agents and workflows for automation.
• Maintain and improve master data governance processes to ensure system consistency and accuracy.
• Analyze datasets to identify trends and create dashboards or reports for stakeholders.
• Document processes, models, and findings to ensure knowledge sharing and reproducibility.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or Engineering at an accredited college.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, with a preferred GPA of 3.2 or above.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
• A basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistical concepts.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a diverse team.
• Exposure to machine learning frameworks like scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch is considered a plus.
• A valid driver’s license and reliable personal or public transportation.

• Compensation: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour, based on experience and credentials.
