Survey Field Intern

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid summer 2026 internship based in Mankato, Minnesota. As a Survey Field Intern, you will work alongside an experienced crew chief to apply classroom knowledge to real-world infrastructure projects. This role requires on-site work and interaction with staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors.

What you'll do#

• Assist with boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and GPS data collection.
• Gain hands-on experience with Trimble, Robotic Total Station, and GPS equipment.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Civil Engineering Technician, Land Surveying, Survey Technician, or related degree program at an accredited post-secondary institution.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, with a 3.2 GPA desired.
• Ability to work in extended outdoor conditions and navigate rugged terrain.
• A valid driver’s license, insurability under firm rates, and access to personal transportation for business-related travel.
• Preferred: Coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD drafting.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

• Compensation: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and credentials, with overtime eligibility.
