Survey Field Intern

About the role#

This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2026 based in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. As a Survey Field Intern, you will work alongside an experienced crew chief to apply classroom knowledge to real-world civil engineering projects. This on-site role requires travel to various job sites.

What you'll do#

• Assist with boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and GPS data collection.
• Gain hands-on experience using Trimble, Robotic Total Station, and GPS equipment.
• Interact and communicate with internal staff, landowners, contractors, and subcontractors.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Civil Engineering Technician, Land Surveying, Survey Technician, or related degree program at an accredited post-secondary institution.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, with a 3.2 GPA preferred.
• Ability to work in extended outdoor conditions and navigate rugged terrain.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license, a clean motor vehicle record, and your own transportation for business-related travel.
• Preferred: Coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD drafting.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
