Landscape Architecture Intern

About the role#

Bolton & Menk, Inc. is seeking a Landscape Architecture Intern for a full-time, paid position in Des Moines, Iowa. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in landscape architecture, land planning, and urban design across various projects, including parks, streetscapes, and riverfront developments. This internship is scheduled for Summer 2026.

What you'll do#

• Assist with graphic renderings and 3D visualization.
• Support the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Help plan, organize, and execute multiple landscape architecture projects.
• Travel to work sites and project-related locations as needed.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Landscape Architecture at an accredited institution.
• A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, with a 3.2 or above preferred.
• Developing knowledge of technical software including Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Arc GIS, and AutoCAD.
• Ability to apply landscape architecture concepts to site design problem-solving.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.
• Attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team environment.
• A valid driver’s license and personal transportation for work-related travel.
• Submission of at least three work samples (portfolio) in PDF format with your resume.
