Architectural Design Intern

About the role#

Bolton & Menk is seeking an Architectural Design Intern for the Summer 2026 season. This full-time, paid internship offers the opportunity to work with a building services team on a variety of project types, ranging from community buildings to industrial facilities. You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary group to gain practical experience in the design process, from initial conception through construction documentation.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the planning, design, and coordination of various projects.
• Independently apply architectural concepts and develop new or improved techniques and procedures.
• Coordinate drawings and specifications with the project team.
• Engage in idea generation and develop design and construction drawings.
• Gain exposure to unique engineering disciplines and understand how architecture interacts with the built environment.
• Expand experience in written and visual communication.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor of Architecture or Master of Architecture degree program; NAAB-accredited university preferred.
• Completion of at least 3 years of design education prior to the start of the internship.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8; 3.2 or above desired.
• Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and visualization tools such as Sketchup or Rhino.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications.
• A valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.

• Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota.
• Term: Summer 2026.
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: $18.00 - $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and credentials.
