About the role#
Bohler is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for our Warrenton, Virginia office for the Summer 2027 term. You will gain insight into the daily operations of a civil engineering firm and understand the complete site development process, from concept to construction. You will work alongside engineers, designers, and project managers on commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use developments.
What you'll do#
- Learn the stages of the land development and site design process.
- Enhance technical skills with hands-on experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept, grading, stormwater management, utility, and erosion control plans.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, and project managers to coordinate and drive projects forward.
- Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
- Visit sites to observe field conditions and see the engineering process in action.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to design and process improvements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred, though training is provided if you are not yet proficient.
- Curiosity and motivation to learn.
