About the role#
Bohler is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for our Herndon, Virginia office for the Summer 2027 term. This is a full-time, on-site internship focused on providing you with direct experience in land development and site design. You will work alongside engineers, designers, and project managers to support the design and permitting of commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use projects.
What you'll do#
- Learn the stages of the land development and site design process from concept to construction.
- Use AutoCAD Civil 3D to design concept, grading, stormwater management, utility, and soil erosion control plans.
- Collaborate with project teams to coordinate and drive development projects.
- Research zoning ordinances and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
- Visit project sites to observe field conditions and the engineering process in action.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to design improvements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Civil, Environmental, Biology, or a related field.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- A self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred, though training is provided.
- Curiosity and a motivation to learn.
