About the role#
This internship is part of the Student Development Program, which recruits engineering students for hands-on work with mentors. You will work on projects within design, simulation, manufacturing, testing, quality, electrical, or embedded systems. This program serves as the final step in the transition to full-time employment at Bobcat, and applicants should have a sincere interest in future permanent roles with the company.
What you'll do#
- Drive product development and improvement through design and prototyping.
- Generate and modify parts and drawings in Creo and manage Bills of Materials.
- Perform finite element analysis using Ansys and document simulation results.
- Develop process layouts in AutoCAD and create standard work instructions.
- Build specialized machines, tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
- Instrument and operate sensors to collect test data and create reports.
- Analyze warranty trends and identify root causes of component failure.
- Develop electrical harnesses, schematics, and troubleshoot electrical systems.
- Write, test, and debug code for embedded systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at North Dakota State University, University of Mary, or University of North Carolina Charlotte.
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree as a sophomore, junior, or senior in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Agricultural, or related Engineering fields.
- Previous co-op or internship experience with Bobcat is required.
- Ability to commit to a 3-4 month term.
- Availability to work 12-20 hours per week or 40 hours during the summer.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
- Strong time management, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and follow written instructions.
- Knowledge of CAD software, such as Creo or SolidWorks, is preferred.
