About the role#
This summer internship provides a hands-on introduction to the operational core of rail transportation. You will work within a 24/7 environment, gaining practical experience in logistics, scheduling, and safety management. Interns will collaborate with experienced professionals on projects that support the movement of essential products and materials across the country. Following a two-day orientation in Fort Worth, you will be assigned to a specific division for field training.
What you'll do#
- Manage railroad terminal operations and assist supervisors in managing train crews.
- Complete specific logistics projects relevant to rail operations.
- Interact with Operating departments, including Mechanical and Engineering.
- Support the movement of essential products and materials.
- Learn the day-to-day logistics of a railroad in a mixed office and outdoor environment.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, Business, Communications, or a related technical field.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
- Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, navigate uneven surfaces, and climb ladders.
- Must have access to reliable transportation for the duration of the internship.
- Willingness to relocate anywhere on the BNSF Railway operating system for the summer.
- Ability to visually distinguish specific colors and hear auditory signals.
