About the role#
As an Engineering Roadway Equipment Summer Intern, you will work with experienced professionals on projects that improve the performance of railway machinery. This program offers a view into field operations and helps you build skills in equipment management and planning. You will gain insight into the operations of a major railroad company while contributing to the maintenance of technology used across the network.
What you'll do#
- Assist with new equipment shipping and verify that shipping information is accurate.
- Support field personnel with equipment retirements and ensure reporting requirements are met.
- Participate in Roadway Equipment Shop scheduling and planning meetings.
- Update SAP to reflect current equipment assignments and locations.
- Inspect equipment in the field to identify opportunities for replacement or rebuilding.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a similar engineering discipline.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
- Ability to work in a 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Capacity to work outdoors in all weather conditions, navigate uneven surfaces, and climb ladders.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid summer internship for 2027.
- The role is on-site with locations in Fort Worth, Texas, and Brainerd, Minnesota.
- Travel is required for up to 75% of the time.
- You must be willing to relocate for the summer based on business needs.
