About the role#
Benzinga is looking for an Analytics Engineering Intern to join our Data Science team for a 12-week, part-time, remote internship. This role focuses on data modeling, dashboards, and data interpretation rather than software engineering. You will build SQL data models, design dashboards, check data quality, and translate raw data into actionable insights.
What you'll do#
- Write SQL to transform raw data into structured datasets for dashboard use.
- Maintain existing reporting and develop new reports.
- Design and build SQL data models that connect to source datasets.
- Create a Looker Studio dashboard and validate it with a stakeholder.
- Present dashboards and findings to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Perform data quality checks and troubleshoot common data issues.
- Work with stakeholders to ensure deliverables answer the core business questions.
- Use AI coding assistants to speed up your work while ensuring you understand and verify all generated code.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate program for Data Analytics, Business Analytics, Economics, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field.
- Basic SQL proficiency, including SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY, and simple aggregations.
- Familiarity with version control concepts like Git.
- Experience with BI or visualization tools such as Looker Studio, Tableau, or Power BI.
- Understanding of GitLab or GitHub merge request workflows.
- Exposure to web application, marketing, or financial data.
- Experience using AI coding assistants like Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or ChatGPT for projects.
