IT Intern - Help Desk

About the role#

The IT Intern will join the Help Desk team in Atlanta to provide technical support to firm members. This role involves managing incoming requests through various channels, including phone, email, and desk-side support. You will assist in maintaining hardware and software systems while ensuring technical issues are documented and resolved efficiently.

What you'll do#

• Field incoming help requests from end users via telephone and email in a courteous manner.
• Document end-user identification information, including department and nature of the issue.
• Build rapport with users to effectively elicit problem details.
• Record, track, and document the problem-solving process, including all actions taken through to final resolution.
• Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, such as installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications.
• Apply diagnostic utilities and utilize knowledge bases to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance on workstations, printers, and peripherals.
• Test fixes and perform post-resolution follow-ups to ensure issues are fully addressed.
• Develop help sheets and frequently asked questions lists for end users.

What you'll need#

• Currently working toward an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum GPA of 3.2 (must be a junior, senior, or master's student).
• Experience with the Microsoft Office 365 suite and collaboration platforms like Microsoft Teams and Zoom.
• Resourceful and innovative problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work extended hours during tax season or as required to complete projects, including participation in an on-call rotation.
• Prior internship experience with a medium to large business is considered a plus.
