About the role#
As an intern at Behavioral Health Network, Inc (BHN), you will gain hands-on experience at the intersection of macro-level policy and direct care. You will support community health improvement, address healthcare disparities, and promote social justice initiatives while building professional skills in research, analysis, and organizational communication. This role provides mentorship and supervision at our corporate headquarters.
What you'll do#
- Analyze data and prepare reports or datasets to support policy development and community needs assessments.
- Assist with the planning, implementation, and evaluation of social justice initiatives.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to communicate findings and engage in collaborative decision-making.
- Participate in staff meetings, committees, and grant writing opportunities.
- Provide logistical support for the Social Justice team and other stakeholders.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BA or MA-level program, preferably in Public Health, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology, History, macro social work, social policy, community organizing, or race and ethnic studies.
- Experience with policy writing, grant writing, or data analysis.
- Proficiency with PC/Windows computers, Microsoft Office, and email systems.
- A strong interest in public health and health equity.
- Knowledge of, or a willingness to learn about, behavioral health, substance use disorders, and their impacts on the communities served.
