Behavioral Health Network, Inc (BHN) is seeking a Domestic Violence Advocacy Intern for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports individuals who feel unsafe in their intimate partnerships or are questioning the health of their relationships. This internship is unpaid and intended for college credit.
What you'll do#
- Gain an understanding of domestic violence dynamics, prevention, and awareness.
- Shadow and practice case management and peer counseling skills.
- Learn court procedures related to domestic violence, including protection orders, alongside SafePlan advocates.
- Complete data entry for domestic violence information.
- Participate in domestic violence education and support groups, including learning how to develop and facilitate groups and trainings.
- Attend task force meetings and awareness trainings when possible.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program in Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Public Health, Human Resources, Nursing, Health Administration, or Communications.
- Reliable transportation to the greater Ware, MA area.
- A strong interest in domestic violence dynamics and awareness.
- Willingness to learn about court procedures and participate in education and support groups.
Location & details#
- Location: Ware, Massachusetts.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 4:00pm, with flexibility based on academic program requirements.
