About the role#
As a Counselor Intern at Behavioral Health Group, you will work under the guidance of experienced counselors to help patients identify their strengths and set social, educational, and occupational goals. This role focuses on assisting patients in achieving a drug-free life while you gain experience toward your counseling licensure.
What you'll do#
- Conduct group counseling sessions.
- Orient new patients to the treatment program operations and procedures.
- Maintain organized and complete patient records.
- Provide crisis intervention and support services.
- Support intake and readmission services, including follow-up counseling.
- Collaborate with case management to coordinate patient referrals.
- Attend all required training sessions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field.
- Current enrollment in a program pursuing counseling licensure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and time management abilities.
- Ability to solve problems and make sound decisions.
- A self-motivated approach to learning.
