About the role#
As a Tax Intern in Core Tax Services, you will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to prepare tax returns and extensions. This role provides hands-on experience with firm practices and offers an opportunity to build professional relationships. You will contribute to our client service teams while developing your technical skills in a full-time capacity.
What you'll do#
- Prepare tax returns and extensions while ensuring data is collected to meet filing requirements.
- Perform quarterly estimates and assist with Internal Revenue Service notice responses.
- Assist with income tax provisions and the projection of year-end filings.
- Apply firm policies and the BDO Tax Quality Manual to FAS 109 and FIN 48 requirements.
- Use tax software to complete simple returns and organize files to minimize rework.
- Monitor tax law developments and use online research tools to gather information.
- Communicate viewpoints on tax developments to the client service team.
- Take initiative on engagement letters and impending due dates.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and follow instructions as directed.
- Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and seek advice from superiors.
- Leadership experience is preferred.
