Core Tax Intern - Winter 2027 (Grand Rapids/Kalamazoo)

About the role#

As a Core Tax Intern at BDO USA, you will support our client base by preparing tax returns and extensions under the supervision of experienced professionals. This internship provides hands-on experience with firm practices and the opportunity to build professional relationships while contributing to client compliance and tax strategy.

What you'll do#

• Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing their tax and reporting burdens.
• Utilize tax software to prepare simple tax returns and extensions.
• Assist with responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service.
• Operate online research tools to gather pertinent tax information.
• Monitor tax law developments and communicate potential impacts to the client service team.
• Organize files and documentation to ensure accuracy and efficiency in review processes.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting or a relevant field.
• Active pursuit of school credits required for CPA licensure.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow professional instructions.
