About the role#
As a Core Tax Intern at BDO USA, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting our client service teams. You will work under the supervision of experienced professionals to prepare tax returns and extensions while developing your technical skills. This role is designed for individuals looking to apply their academic background in a professional accounting environment.
What you'll do#
- Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Prepare simple tax returns and extensions using tax software applications.
- Use referencing systems and workpapers to organize files and minimize rework.
- Assist with responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Perform quarterly estimates and assist with the projection of year-end filings.
- Assist with components of income tax provisions, including applying firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Develop and implement methods to maximize client benefits.
- Utilize online research tools to monitor tax law and client factual developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- A masters degree in Accounting or a relevant field is preferred.
