About the role#
The Core Tax Intern position provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in tax services while working under the supervision of experienced professionals. Interns will utilize their educational background and organizational skills to assist in the preparation of tax returns and extensions, supporting the firm's client base.
What you'll do#
- Ensure client compliance with tax authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Work with tax software applications to complete simple tax returns for review.
- Assist with responses to notices from the Internal Revenue Service.
- Perform quarterly estimates and prepare extensions.
- Assist with components of income tax provisions, including applying firm policies regarding FAS 109 and FIN 48.
- Conduct tax research using online tools and monitor tax law developments.
- Develop and communicate viewpoints to client service teams regarding how tax developments may affect clients.
- Assist in developing and implementing methods to maximize client benefits by decreasing current and future taxes.
- Maintain organized workpapers and documentation to ensure compliance with filing requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Preference for candidates pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
