Core Tax Intern

About the role#

The Core Tax Intern position provides a hands-on perspective on firm practices while working under the supervision of experienced Core Tax Services professionals. This role is designed for individuals to utilize their educational background and organizational skills to support the firm's client base.

What you'll do#

• Ensure clients comply with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
• Maintain compliance with firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
• Utilize referencing systems and workpapers to complete tasks and minimize rework.
• Collect data for filing requirements and manage impending due dates and engagement letters.
• Work with tax software to complete simple tax returns, perform quarterly estimates, and prepare extensions.
• Assist with Internal Revenue Service notice responses and the projection of year-end filings.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting or a relevant field (Master's degree pursuit preferred).
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team.
