About the role#
The Core Tax Intern will support the firm's client base by preparing returns and extensions under the guidance of experienced professionals. This summer internship provides hands-on experience with firm practices and offers the opportunity to build professional relationships within the accounting industry.
What you'll do#
- Ensure client compliance with applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
- Adhere to firm policies, standards, and the BDO Tax Quality Manual (TQM).
- Utilize tax software to complete simple tax returns, prepare extensions, and perform quarterly estimates.
- Assist with responses to Internal Revenue Service notices and support the projection of year-end filings.
- Contribute to income tax provisions regarding ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) tax accruals.
- Research tax information using online tools and monitor tax law and client developments to recommend methods that maximize client benefits.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting or a relevant field.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Pursuing a Master's degree in Accounting and prior leadership experience are preferred.
