Assurance Intern - Winter 2027 (NYC)

About the role#

This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the Assurance practice at BDO USA. You will work alongside experienced team members, assisting with audit engagements and participating in a structured training program to develop your professional skills.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Learn and apply BDO-specific audit methodology throughout various stages of the audit process.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
• Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using BDO tools and templates.
• Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned accounting or audit research project for presentation to a panel of professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting.
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
• A Master's degree in Accounting and prior leadership experience are preferred.
