Assurance Intern - Winter 2027 (NYC)

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting our audit practice and working alongside experienced professionals. This role involves participating in structured training, assisting with audit engagements, and contributing to research projects while building professional relationships within the firm.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Assist with various stages of the audit process by applying BDO-specific audit methodology, tools, and templates.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements, including preparing and documenting working papers.
• Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams while responding to the views of other team members.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting (Master's degree pursuit preferred).
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn and follow directions.
