About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to gain hands-on experience in the audit practice. You will assist with problem-solving and fact-finding for a diverse client base while developing professional relationships and technical skills.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Apply BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
- Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
- Communicate with clients' customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned accounting or audit research project for presentation to a panel of professionals.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- A Master's degree in Accounting and prior leadership experience are preferred.
