Assurance Intern - Winter 2027

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to assist with the audit process. This role provides hands-on experience in problem-solving and fact-finding while allowing you to build professional relationships within the firm. You will receive direction and coaching as you contribute to various client engagements.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Apply BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements, including preparing and documenting work in working papers.
• Communicate with client representatives, including customers, creditors, and banks, regarding audit issues.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project and present findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
• Contribute ideas and opinions to audit teams.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting is required; a Master's degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work effectively in a team, and maintain a willingness to learn.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
