About the role#
As an Assurance Intern, you will work alongside experienced team members to gain hands-on experience in the accounting industry. This role focuses on applying your educational background to support audit engagements, problem-solving, and building professional relationships within the firm.
What you'll do#
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
- Assist with various stages of the audit process by applying BDO-specific audit methodology.
- Prepare and document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
- Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, and banks regarding audit issues.
- Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present your findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.
- Contribute ideas to audit teams and provide support to staff during engagements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting is required; a Master's degree in Accounting is preferred.
- Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
- Leadership experience is preferred.

- Compensation: This is a paid internship. Hourly rates in California range from $40.00 to $45.00, depending on factors such as qualifications, experience, skills, and specific geography.
