Assurance Intern - Summer 2027

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will apply your academic background and organizational skills to support our audit practice. You will work alongside experienced team members to solve problems and gather facts, gaining hands-on experience with our firm’s practices and client engagements. This role is designed to provide coaching and learning opportunities to help you build a foundation for your professional career.

What you'll do#

• Participate in a structured on-the-job training program to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Learn and apply BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements and document work using firm-specific tools and templates.
• Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Contribute ideas to the audit team and engage with team members' perspectives.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit-related research project and present your findings to a panel of Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting is required; a Masters degree in Accounting is preferred.
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to follow instructions, work effectively in a team, and maintain a positive, learning-oriented attitude.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
