Assurance Intern - Summer 2027

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will apply your academic background and organizational skills to support our client engagements. You will work alongside experienced professionals, gaining hands-on experience in audit practices while building professional relationships. This role includes a structured training program and an assigned research project to be presented to a panel of professionals.

What you'll do#

• Participate in on-the-job training to build familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Learn and apply BDO-specific audit methodology across various engagement stages.
• Provide support to audit staff and contribute ideas to the audit team.
• Document work in working papers using firm-specific tools and templates.
• Communicate with clients, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Complete an assigned accounting or audit research project.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelors or Masters program in Accounting.
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions.
• A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Pursuing a Masters degree in Accounting and prior leadership experience are preferred.
