Assurance Intern

About the role#

As an Assurance Intern, you will participate in a structured on-the-job training program to gain hands-on experience in the accounting industry. You will work alongside experienced team members to assist with audit engagements, problem-solving, and fact-finding. This role provides an opportunity to build professional relationships and gain insight into BDO's audit practices.

What you'll do#

• Participate in structured training to become familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS).
• Apply BDO-specific audit methodology to assist with various stages of the audit process.
• Provide support functions to audit staff during engagements.
• Communicate with clients, customers, creditors, banks, and related parties regarding audit issues.
• Prepare and document work in working papers using BDO tools and templates.
• Contribute ideas to audit teams and complete an assigned research project for presentation to Assurance professionals.

What you'll need#

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's program in Accounting (Master's degree pursuit preferred).
• Active pursuit of school credits required to become a CPA.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a team setting and follow instructions as directed.
• Leadership experience is preferred.
