Summer Student Assistant I

About the role#

The Interactive Media & Language Center (iMLC) at Baylor University is seeking a student assistant for the Summer I and Summer II sessions. You will support faculty, staff, and students by managing the materials, technology, and facilities that support the university's modern language programs. This role involves maintaining specialized equipment, assisting visitors, and contributing to the daily operations of the center.

What you'll do#

• Support Modern Languages & Cultures faculty, staff, and students, with a focus on promoting computer-assisted language learning.
• Maintain printers, computers, and other technology to ensure smooth operation of center resources.
• Create and distribute promotional materials, including flyers, posters, and digital content.
• Provide excellent customer service to all visitors and serve as a point of contact for the department.
• Assist with general business operations, departmental projects, and administrative tasks.
• Demonstrate strong technology skills and a willingness to learn new tools related to language-learning technologies.

What you'll need#

• Strong computer skills and a willingness to learn.
• An outgoing and helpful demeanor.
• Interest in foreign language study or prior language experience.
• Preference is given to students who have qualified for Federal Work-Study.
• Preference is given to majors or minors in modern languages, international studies, or area studies.

Location & details#

• Location: Draper 356, Waco, Texas.
• Term: Summer 2026 (Summer I and Summer II sessions).
• Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
• Compensation: $8.50 per hour.
