About the role#
The Interactive Media and Language Center (iMLC) at Baylor University is seeking a student assistant for Summer I and Summer II sessions. This role supports the faculty, staff, and students of the Modern Languages and Cultures department by managing the technology, materials, and facilities that support language programs. Assistants work independently to ensure smooth daily operations while providing service to visitors.
What you'll do#
- Support faculty, staff, and students in promoting language learning, with a focus on computer-assisted study.
- Maintain printers, computers, and other technology to ensure equipment remains operational.
- Create and distribute flyers, posters, handouts, and digital content to promote department programs.
- Provide excellent customer service to all visitors and serve as a point of contact for the center.
- Assist with various administrative projects, operational tasks, and departmental initiatives as assigned.
- Demonstrate and develop technology skills related to language-learning tools.
What you'll need#
- Strong computer skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
- An outgoing and helpful personality with the ability to work independently.
- Preference is given to students with foreign language experience, an interest in language study, or majors and minors in modern languages, international studies, or area studies.
- Preference is given to students who have qualified for Federal Work-Study and accepted their financial aid package.
Location & details#
- Location: Draper 356, 1420 S. 7th St, Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Term: Summer 2026 (Summer I and Summer II sessions).
- Compensation: $8.50 per hour.
