About the role#
The Interactive Media & Language Center (iMLC) is seeking a student assistant to support faculty, staff, and students during the Summer I and Summer II sessions. You will help manage the facilities, technology, and resources that support language programs, ensuring smooth daily operations at the service desk and within the center's specialized rooms.
What you'll do#
- Support Modern Languages & Cultures (MLC) faculty and students, with a focus on promoting computer-assisted language study.
- Maintain printers, computers, and audio/video materials to ensure they are fully operational.
- Create and distribute promotional materials, including flyers, posters, handouts, and digital content.
- Provide excellent customer service to all visitors and serve as a point of contact for the department.
- Assist with general business operations, special projects, and departmental initiatives.
- Work independently to prioritize tasks and maintain the center's daily workflow.
What you'll need#
- Strong computer skills and a willingness to learn new language-learning technologies.
- An outgoing and helpful personality with the ability to work independently.
- Preference is given to students who have qualified for Federal Work-Study and accepted their financial aid package.
- Preference is given to students with majors or minors in modern languages, international studies, or area studies, as well as students who speak languages other than English.
- A strong interest in language study is highly encouraged.
Location & details#
- Location: Draper 356, Waco, Texas.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
- Compensation: $8.50 per hour.
- Term: Summer 2026 (Summer I and Summer II sessions).
