Student Worker - Summer Camp - Cyber Security Summer Camp Counselor

About the role#

As a Cyber Security Summer Camp Counselor, you will serve as a primary caregiver and instructor for campers. You will be responsible for planning, teaching, and coordinating activities that guide campers in the development of cybersecurity skills. This role involves working within the BRIC Cyber Range to facilitate labs and competitions.

What you'll do#

• Assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers to meet intended program outcomes.
• Apply youth development principles, including communication, relationship building, and respect for diversity.
• Participate in the development and implementation of activities aligned with the camp's mission.
• Lead and assist with teaching activities, supporting the progression of group interests and abilities.
• Maintain high standards of health and safety for all campers and staff by monitoring equipment and facilities.
• Serve as a positive role model by upholding camp policies and demonstrating professional conduct.
• Assist with the planning of special events and work collaboratively with the camp staff team.

What you'll need#

• Must be at least 18 years of age or a high school graduate.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in cybersecurity or related program areas.
• Ability to interact effectively with all age levels and relate to youth and adults in a positive manner.
• Ability to observe behavior, assess appropriateness, and enforce safety regulations.
• Physical ability to respond to emergencies, including first aid, and the strength to lift up to 20 pounds.
• Visual and auditory ability to identify environmental and activity-related hazards.

Location & details#

• Location: Baylor University, BRIC - Cyber Range, 100 Research Parkway, Waco, TX.
• Term: Summer 2026 (June 15, 2026 – June 26, 2026).
• Schedule: 8 AM to 5 PM, totaling 60-80 hours.
• Compensation: $17/hr.
