About the role#
This position involves officiating games and supporting recreational activities at the Greater Waco YMCA. The role requires a commitment of 5 to 10 hours per week, with availability during weeknights and weekends. Students must commit to at least two sports seasons.
What you'll do#
- Officiate assigned games for sports including basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, and baseball.
- Ensure playing areas remain safe and clear of obstructions during game times.
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of sports equipment.
- Supervise and interact positively with large groups of participants.
- Maintain accurate records as required by the Director.
- Serve as a scorekeeper and participate in clinics or exhibition games when needed.
- Report incidents or injuries and follow established emergency procedures.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of rules and policies for various sports and general knowledge of fitness and wellness.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain a calm and professional presence in stressful or difficult situations.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or the willingness to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment.
- Ability to pass a background check, reference check, and drug screen.
- Preferred majors include Kinesiology, Health Administration, Psychology, Communications, Real Estate, and Business Administration.
