About the role#
This position involves officiating sports games and supporting recreational activities at the Greater Waco YMCA. You will work 5 to 10 hours per week, primarily during evenings and weekends. This is a paid student worker role for the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Officiate all assigned games including basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, and baseball.
- Ensure playing areas remain safe and clear of obstructions.
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of sports equipment.
- Supervise and interact positively with large groups of participants.
- Maintain accurate records as required by the Director.
- Serve as a scorekeeper and participate in clinics or exhibition games as needed.
- Follow emergency procedures and complete incident or injury reports when necessary.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of rules and policies for various sports and general fitness concepts.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful or difficult situations.
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification, or a willingness to become certified within the first 30 days of employment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Availability to work weeknights and weekends.
- Ability to pass a background check, reference check, and drug screen.
