About the role#
Baylor University is hiring a Student Worker to serve as a Sports Official at the Greater Waco YMCA. This role focuses on officiating games, maintaining safety in recreational areas, and supporting sports programs. You will work 5-10 hours per week during evenings and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Officiate assigned games for sports including basketball, volleyball, soccer, football, and baseball.
- Keep playing areas safe and clear of obstructions.
- Assist with the set-up and take-down of sports equipment.
- Supervise and interact positively with large groups of participants.
- Maintain accurate records as requested by the Director.
- Act as a scorekeeper and participate in clinics or exhibition games when needed.
What you'll need#
- Knowledge of rules and policies for various sports and a general understanding of fitness and wellness.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain a calm presence during stressful situations.
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or a willingness to obtain it within 30 days of starting.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Availability to work weeknights and weekends.
- Majors in Kinesiology, Health Administration, Psychology, Communications, Real Estate, or Business Administration are preferred.
