About the role#
The Nursing Learning Resource Center (NLRC) at the Louise Herrington School of Nursing is seeking a student worker to staff the 1st Floor Tech Point Desk. This role supports the daily operations of the center by assisting students and faculty with resources, equipment, and technology. The position offers flexible scheduling between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with shifts ranging from one to four hours.
What you'll do#
- Staff the NLRC service desk, including checking out and returning books, clinical equipment, kits, and models.
- Assist students and faculty with library catalogs, course schedules, book lists, and digital resources such as Canvas and PawPrints.
- Maintain printer stations, including clearing paper jams and replenishing toner and paper.
- Manage and organize NLRC equipment and supplies, including reshelving items and maintaining white boards.
- Orient new nursing students to NLRC resources, technology, and the culture of the school.
- Answer the NLRC phone, handle routine requests, and take accurate messages.
- Track interactions in established systems and perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Ability to respond promptly to questions or requests from users.
- Effective communication skills to assist faculty and students.
- Familiarity with Baylor print and electronic resources.
- Experience with library or educational tools is preferred.
- Ability to follow established procedures for opening and closing the service desk.

- Compensation: $8.50 per hour.
