About the role#
The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC) at Baylor University is seeking a student worker to support daily operations in the main department office. This role involves assisting faculty and staff with administrative tasks, managing office supplies, and ensuring the department runs smoothly.
What you'll do#
- Assist faculty and staff with administrative requests and various projects.
- Monitor and maintain supply inventory in department workrooms, reporting needs to the Office Manager.
- Manage copier and printer supplies through the Copy Center or external vendors.
- Sort incoming mail and distribute it to appropriate department mailboxes.
- Run errands to the copy center or other campus departments.
- Answer phone calls and assist visitors to the department.
- Perform light housekeeping tasks within the main office area.
- Complete and submit timesheets according to department requirements.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a student, with preference for majors in Communications, Human Resources, or Business Administration.
- Ability to lift 20 lbs.
- Strong commitment to confidentiality, honesty, organization, and reliability.
- Willingness to adhere to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Previous experience maintaining supply inventory is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Old Main 275, 1462 S. 7th St., Waco, Texas.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 10 to 20 hours per week, with flexibility between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
- Compensation: $8.50 per hour.
- Employment Term: Ongoing.
