Student Worker - Modern Languages and Cultures Student Office Associate

About the role#

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures (MLC) at Baylor University is seeking a Student Office Associate to support faculty and staff in the main department office. This role involves performing administrative tasks, maintaining office organization, and assisting with daily operations. This is a paid, on-site position with a flexible schedule between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., requiring 10-20 hours of work per week.

What you'll do#

• Assist faculty and staff with administrative tasks and various projects as required.
• Perform regular checks of supplies in department workrooms and maintain inventory records.
• Coordinate with the Office Manager to place supply orders and manage copier and printer supplies.
• Sort incoming mail and distribute it to department mailboxes.
• Run errands to the copy center and other campus departments.
• Answer phone calls and assist visitors to the department.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks around the office.
• Complete and submit timesheets accurately and on time.

What you'll need#

• Ability to lift 20 lbs.
• Strong organizational skills, reliability, and honesty.
• Commitment to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding department and student information, in compliance with FERPA regulations.
• Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule during business hours.
• Previous experience with maintaining supply inventory is preferred.
• Currently enrolled student with a major in Communications, Human Resources, or Business Administration.
