Student Worker - Modern Languages and Cultures Student Office Associate

About the role#

The Department of Modern Languages and Cultures at Baylor University is seeking a student worker to support daily operations in the main department office. This role involves performing administrative tasks and assisting faculty and staff to ensure the office runs efficiently.

What you'll do#

• Provide administrative support to department faculty and staff.
• Manage office supply inventory, monitor workroom stock, and submit orders to the Office Manager as needed.
• Handle mail distribution by sorting deliveries and delivering items to department mailboxes.
• Maintain office equipment, including managing copier and printer supplies.
• Assist visitors and answer incoming phone calls.
• Perform light housekeeping tasks in the office area.
• Run errands to the copy center or other departments as required.
• Assist with various special projects and administrative duties.

What you'll need#

• Ability to lift 20 lbs.
• Strong organizational skills, reliability, and a commitment to honesty.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
• Capability to perform functions similar to an administrative associate or office manager.
• Preferred majors include Communications, Human Resources, or Business Administration.

Location & details#

• Location: Waco, Texas.
• Work Modality: On-site at Old Main 275.
• Schedule: 10-20 hours per week, flexible between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
• Compensation: $8.50 per hour.
• Employment Term: Rolling.
