About the role#
This position supports the daily operations of the Meyer Center, a social services facility. The student worker assists staff with administrative tasks, client registration, and data management within the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS). This role involves direct contact with the homeless population and provides experience in administrative work, community service, and social services operations.
What you'll do#
- Welcome and register clients in the HMIS database by collecting information on housing, income, employment, and health status.
- Manage, assign, and supervise client chores at the center, including cleaning and administrative tasks.
- Assist the director with HMIS analytics to generate monthly reports and support grant funding applications.
- Schedule meetings for program directors, counselors, and case workers.
- Obtain and analyze homeless utilization data from the Health Clinic to support center operations.
What you'll need#
- Proficiency in data collection, entry, and analysis.
- Basic clerical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and a hospitable, kind approach when working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to encourage and interact effectively with individuals from different demographics.
- Previous experience working with neighbors experiencing homelessness is preferred.
- Relevant majors include Public Health, Human Resources, Sociology, Psychology, or Business Administration.
Location & details#
- Location: Waco, Texas.
- Term: Fall 2026.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 10 to 20 hours per week, Monday through Saturday between 6:00 am and 5:00 pm.
- Compensation: $11.00 to $12.50 per hour, depending on student status and skill level.
